My A+ Project

Hi I’m Amelia but everyone calls me “Meals”.

I defiantly had a stand out project last term. Although I was surprised to see an A+ on my marking sheet, thinking back now I really shouldn’t have been. Endless hours of work really went into the drawing half of the project and even more went into designing and perfecting the model half. During the whole process of the project I felt my time management was immaculate which helped with the end result being so good.

Based on the movement of the elbow, il admit I was a bit skeptical at the beginning about how this project would pan out. The whole idea of it was way more abstract than anything I had done before. Self-editing was a new concept to me, as was the materiality of this particular project. It took a little while for me to get my head around, but in saying that I couldn’t have been happier with the end result. By the time presentation day came around I couldn’t wait to show it off. I guess it just shows that putting in the effort really does pay off.

Websites that inspired my A+ project...

www.visualcomplexity.com was a website that inspired my project, both during the drawing part and also the model designing part. Being a website dedicated to displaying interesting forms of diagrams from many different artists, it was here i found two artist models of interest. 1) Christina Van Vleck and 2) Oli Laurelle. I found both these artisits way of displaying information in diagrams very inspring. I then extended my search on these artist which was when i found Christina Van Vlecks home page.http://cvanvleck.com/vanvleck_thesis.html
This page was about a specific exhibit she had done called "Information taking shape". Again i found very inspiring diagrams which i used ideas from in my diagram drawing.
When it came to the physical building of my model i hit a dead end on what materials to use. This was when i came across the Mitre 10 web site. http://www.mitre10.co.nz/.It was here that i was able to browse and look at possible materials i could use and experiment with. I found this site very to easy to use and extremly helpful as i knew exactly what i was going to buy when i went into the store.
